Job Description

Salary: Base salary ranging from £25,250pa to around £31,600pa, depending on expertise and experience. Additionally, a flexible benefits fund of 15% is offered on top of the base salary, fully pensionable, along with a variety of competitive benefits detailed in the Benefits section on the company's website.

As a Technical Advisor at HS2, your role involves providing technical guidance and support to the S1/S2 Engineering and Environmental Managers and their teams. This includes organizing team meetings, offering direction on the utilization of MS Teams, Sharepoint, and eB.

About the role:
  • Act as the initial point of contact for senior managers, departments/teams, and other stakeholders on Technical, Contractual, and administrative services and processes, redirecting and responding as necessary to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Manage RFI and Departure responses efficiently through collaboration with SMEs and the local Eng&Env team.
  • Assess draft RFU responses to ensure they address contractor inquiries before seeking HOEE/Deputy HOEE approval.
  • Assist SPEs in responding to CEMAR communications by drafting when possible, seeking input/approval from SMEs.
  • Coordinate departmental team meetings, ensuring their smooth operation and successful outcome delivery, including agenda compilation, minute-taking, and action item management.
  • Prepare and format briefing packs, presentations, and other documentation for HOEE, Deputy HOEE, and departmental teams as needed.
  • Develop reporting systems and maintain Team, Departmental, and Directorate records, databases, and systems for effective functioning.
  • Create and manage information systems in MS Teams and Sharepoint for efficient documentation filing and access.
  • Handle all eB MWCC RFIs for the team, liaise with SMEs, draft responses as necessary, and coordinate actions for timely contractor responses.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative leadership, liaising with Document Control teams to resolve information-sharing issues.
  • Offer continuous administrative support to HOEE and the team, identifying enhancements to improve team functionality.
  • Promote and enforce Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all tasks and comply with organizational initiatives, policies, and procedures in EDI.

  • Capability to comprehend systems (eB, CEMAR, Sharepoint, PowerBI, etc.) and devise solutions for enhanced efficiency
Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook)
  • Basic Excel skills, including charts
  • Understanding of Organizational structures
Experience
  • Database experience, ideally with Assetwise/eB
  • Preferably, a qualification post A-level related to Engineering, or A-levels with a suitable aptitude for understanding engineering issues.
