What you will be doing


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Specialist to join the Thames Valley Water Production Team specialising in all aspects of electrical.


You will be responsible for supporting frontline operational teams to deliver process compliance, assurance, technical support, efficiency, and optimisation of projects both directly and indirectly across the Thames Valley & Home Counties.

You will influence the risk management process from identification, through to escalation and solution delivery.


This is a critical role, responsible for delivering solutions to supply interruptions and site trips including technical resolution of complex electrical issues ensuring regulatory commitments are met whilst delivering against budget.


The role covers a large geographical area in Thames Valley and Home Counties, so a willingness to move around day to day is essential.

Day to Day Duties Include:

  • Assurance &

Regulatory Compliance:

lead the Production team's assurance on process compliance against regulations and standards, supporting local teams to achieve compliance and investigate any events.

Lead the interface with Asset Standards and Engineering on electrical actions, audits and information.

  • Root cause analysis: support with technical reviews relating to asset failure and site trips preventing reoccurrence and supply interruptions.
  • Technical (Electrical)

Support:
proactively and reactively provide operational support to process teams. Take an active role in the regional Electrical Person forum and Electrical Working Groups, and work with production managers and others to ensure learning and updates are effectively communicated and implemented to the wider team

  • Mentoring and coaching: supporting individuals within the frontline team to develop knowledge and skills of others. Leading Electrical forums to identify issues and acting upon insight to improve the situation.
  • Risk Management: Ensure the team is compliant with electrical risks, managing processes and reporting requirements. Escalation of electrical risks and opportunities through local risk reviews and communication with Technical Managers within the area.
  • Optimisation and Project Delivery

Support:

lead the delivery of optimisation projects for the team; proactively seek out new opportunities and work with stakeholders to push forward.

Act as the main point of contact in the area for aspects relating to electrical asset investment for Capital Delivery teams.


We're looking for you to:

  • Be highly experienced and competent electrically including experience with HV practices
  • Be well versed in industry standards and regulations
  • Excellent communicator, influencer, and problem solver
  • Ability to deliver against operational targets
  • Sound business processes knowledge
  • Have proven relevant experience in the frontline of operational maintenance
  • Able to demonstrable role modelling of Thames Water's values and behaviours
