We have an exciting role for an Asset Engineering Manager (Electrical) who will be reporting directly the Head of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), in ensuring that key E&I Asset systems are managed appropriately, processes operate effectively, efficientlyand safely.

This involve working closely with colleagues across several number of functions/departments within the business.

A day will include


Manage our E&I Asset portfolio in line with ISO 55001 principles across sites in the Scotland, South and South East England, covering a range of assets, primarily electrical (low & high voltage) distribution systems and equipment, UPS', generators etc.

Alsoto provide support for instrumentation, telemetry, metering, gas quality, software, fire & gas and security assets in potentially hazardous atmospheres.


  • Ensuring that all E&I GD2 projects are carried out to programme to enable delivery of key OFGEM outputs and within budget.
  • Management of CAPEX and OPEX budgets to ensure project delivery and departmental targets are met.
  • Ensure suitable compliance levels are applied for new and existing Electrical equipment.
  • Ensuring our Electrical maintenance programme and projects are carried out safely and in accordance with SGN policy and procedures.
  • Ensure systems and plans are in place to deliver E&I GD2 business plan
  • Ensure our biomethane Electrical systems are managed, maintained and commissioned to meet regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate audits and inspections are undertaken
  • When appropriate undertake fault analysis and investigations to determine root cause.

What you'll need

  • A degree or HND minimum in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or similar disciplines.
  • A flexible attitude to work, and willingness to take on new skills in order to further your career in the gas industry.
  • Communicative and Interpersonal skills, including the ability to converse with external organisations such as HSE, OFGEM, IGEM, consultants, contractors and members of the public.
  • Knowledge and experience of E&I processes in the gas industry is essential. Knowledge of Telemetry, Fire & Gas detection, high pressure flow metering and Gas Quality systems, would also be preferable.
  • A full and valid UK driving licence is essential.
