The team
The post will be based within the Office of the Chief Executive.

The team is responsible for a wide range of services across communications and engagement, shaping opinion and behaviours through effective media and stakeholder communication and social marketing and developing internal communications and engagement frameworks.


About the role.


Gateshead Council is looking to appoint three communications professionals to support its work and that of Transport North East (TNE).


This is a chance to use your knowledge, skills, and experience to influence and shape communication activity that improves the lives of the residents in Gateshead and across the region.


As a communications and engagement officer you'll be involved in campaigns which support the strategic vision and common purposes of Gateshead Council and TNE.

The roles will support our activity in relation to:

  • Children's social care
  • and in particular fostering services
  • Economy, innovation, and growth and the delivery of our economic growth strategy; and
  • Transport North East supporting the regional team in the delivery of its vision for transport, _Moving to a green, healthy, dynamic and thriving North East_.


You will need to be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with multiple stakeholders and partners.

You will also need to be able to work independently, using creative skills to adapt, problem solve and deliver projects on time.


You will have knowledge of public relations (PR), marketing or communications disciplines, experience of PR, marketing and digital media and excellent communication skills.

You will have experience in creating engaging copy and creating content for social media.

You will have a degree/professional qualification or relevant experience.
