About the Role


As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in the lives of young people by providing them with guidance, care, and a safe environment.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at addressing their physical, emotional, and educational needs. Your compassionate and firm approach will ensure their well-being while fostering personal growth.

Tasks:

  • Providing advice, assistance, and support to Young People, safeguarding their welfare at all times.
  • Meeting the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people
  • Attending to Young People's practical, physical, and emotional needs and acting as an appropriate role model.
  • Working closely with Young People to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning etc)
  • Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
  • Helping young people gain selfcontrol by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, prosocial conduct.
  • Ensuring that each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
  • Attending young people's meetings and contributing to them

Requirements:

  • A kind, caring and compassionate nature, with a fair but firm approach
  • Formal or informal experience of supporting Young People who may have social and emotional difficulties, or behaviour that challenges.
  • A recognised qualification in Residential Child Care at Level 3 / 4 or ability and willingness to work towards achieving within a set time frame
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence
  • Ability to work shifts and sleep in the home overnight
