Job Purpose


Operating as Group Indirect Buyer, you will be involved in various categories of indirect purchasing in order to successfully deliver sourcing benefits within an autonomous role remit.

The role works closely with the wider group purchasing team along with internal stakeholders and external third parties and continuously seeks to improve and deliver value to the function and the wider business.

The role ensures the function is perceived as a positive, significant, value adding partner to the business.

Involves leading the procurement activities of a wide range of contracts, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to determine and deliver the Procurement and Supply Chain strategy, and to manage suppliers and external stakeholders in the delivery of best value and lowest risk solutions to meet the needs of the business.

Must develop and maintain key relationships with internal stakeholders and be able to articulate strategy to multiple levels of the business.

Role Key Accountabilities

  • Creating and implementing sourcing strategies in line with group procurement objectives.
  • Identification of process improvement opportunities and promoting procurement best practice.
  • Deliver results in key performance areas including cost management, market and financial forecast accuracy, process improvements, innovation and alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop expertise within the organisation around specific supply markets, as well as technological and economic changes that impact those markets.
  • Liaising cross functionally with a diverse internal community e.g. R&D, NPD, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing expanding procurements remit and developing its profile.
  • Delivering purchasing cost saving, quality, flexibility and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Identification of new suppliers, delivering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships.
  • Continuously review industry and peer best practices, educate our organisation about them, and develop plans to implement those that provide a competitive advantage to Finsbury.
  • Procurement categories include, but not limited to distribution, IT related services, facilities management and office services, hire and leasing, PPE etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong strategic sourcing and procurement background with a minimum 3 years' experience sourcing within indirect categories (Essential)
  • Full Lifecycle Contract Management
  • Monitoring and reviewing performance to budget, identifying opportunities for greater efficiencies, improved terms and value add activity.
  • Competency demonstrated by a formal technical qualification combined with good education standards/industry experience and knowledge. (Essential)
  • Demonstrated success in delivering significant cost savings on a year over year basis. (Essential)
  • Developing closer collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally to identify and drive continuous improvement activity and support the business long term strategy. (Essential)
  • Financially aware, numerate, commercially minded and able to effectively manage costs. (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (Essential)
  • Proficient within Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills. (Essential)
  • Experienced in change management and successes. (Essential)
  • Competency in commercial contracts. (Essential)
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously & to develop priorities (Essential)
  • Knowledge of the specified procurement categories (Desirable).
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Experience of working in procurement in a similar industry (Desirable)
  • Membership status of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (Full Member or above). (Desirable)
