Your new role
A new opportunity with a large manufacturing organisation, based in Hull, East Yorkshire. As Buyer you will look to support the business as the organisation's growth plans become reality. The Buyer will manage all packaging spends to garner best value and qualityfor the business.
As Buyer you will bring tenacity and professionalism to the business, the Buyer will be able to manage multiple projects at once whilst delivering targeted results.
Along with the procurement, the Buyer will also support targets on sustainability,driving the right behaviours and innovation within the supply base.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage category spend utilising a strategic, measured but fast paced approach.
- Develop robust relationships with the right suppliers to ensure the best commercial terms and conditions are agreed.
- Ensure internal and external stakeholders understand category strategies and influence where necessary, building excellent working relationships.
- Ensure robust category strategies are developed for spend areas.
- Ensure all categories are in line with the businesses ethical procurement and sustainable sourcing policy.
- Visit suppliers and industry conferences when required to build relationships and category knowledge.
- Support cost optimisation projects.
- Continually push organisations contractual terms compliance across the supply base.
- Identify potential supply issues and take appropriate action to avoid their occurrence.
- Ensure financial due diligence is carried out and relevant actions are taken.
- Support other procurement categories as and when required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experienced in a similar role is essential, ideally within a FMCG environment
- CIPS qualified
- Be a great team player and have a positive personal attitude
- Form strong proactive working relationships across all functions
- Have developed strong procurement and negotiation skills with the ability to analyse risk and financially assess supply options
- Have a pragmatic approach to problem solving with excellent organisational skills
- Be prepared to go the 'extra mile' to achieve results and be comfortable working within extremely tight deadlines
- Be flexible and able to adapt to changing roles within a dynamic, growing department
