Job Title: Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding Adults

University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust is in search of a skilled senior practitioner enthusiastic about safeguarding adults, the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. We need someone with strong leadership qualities who is ready to advance in their career.

We are part of an integrated care partnership, with three community hospitals, a UTC in the city centre, and a regional acute trauma centre as our main site.

Main Duties:

  • Operational management of the Safeguarding Adult team
  • Acting as Named Nurse with statutory duties
  • Providing expert advice and support across the Trust
  • Ensuring human rights protection for patients
  • Leading and managing on Safeguarding Adult reviews

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Provide leadership and clinical supervision
  • Oversee recruitment and HR matters
  • Implement changes as per Quality Improvement strategy
  • Ensure interagency working for safeguarding
  • Participate in various safeguarding subgroups and boards

Clinical

  • Ensure current best practices are adopted
  • Maintain compliance with statutory requirements
  • Manage risk assessment processes
  • Participate in interagency risk assessments
  • Contribute to investigations

Training & Education

  • Develop safeguarding training plans
  • Lead multiagency training
  • Provide ongoing education and training
  • Stay updated on legislation and initiatives

Quality Improvement

  • Implement QI programs
  • Provide data for service planning
  • Support staff in implementing changes
  • Undertake project work for safeguarding services

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • First level degree
  • Masters degree or working towards completion
  • Proven professional development
  • Management and safeguarding leadership courses
  • Recognized safeguarding supervision course

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in safeguarding
  • Knowledge of related legislation
  • Understanding of clinical governance
  • Experience managing complex cases
  • Leadership and training experience
