About the role:

Activate Learning are now looking for a Sports Teacher to join our established teaching team at our Reading Campus.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and passionate individuals with the ability to inspire, so that our sports students have a memorable learning experience.

With your excellent subject knowledge and practice skills you will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons up to BTEC Level 3, and participate in the curriculum development to meet the needs of changing industry demands.

This role will be linked to our Reading Football Club Community Trust Program, the successful candidate will work closely with both Activate Learning and RFCCT to deliver an curriculum designed to inspire, motivate and prepare students to become community multi sport coaches.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE) at our Reading College campus.

What do you need to be successful Sports Teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. A genuine interest in working with and developing young people is a requirement.

Whilst previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications to teach on our Sport and Fitness courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

  • Level 3 or above qualification in Sports is essential
  • Level 3 or above qualified Personal Trainer is essential
  • Experience of sports coaching or working in the sports/fitness industry is desirable, but not essential
  • It is desirable if you have a teaching qualification and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be outstanding and support your ability to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners. You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads and will benefit from being part of a supportive team, working in a varied and interesting role with a variety of opportunities for career development.
