Teacher of Maths – Full time / Permanent

Salary Range: MPS 1 £30,000 / UPS 3 £46,525 – Plus a Recruitment bonus of up to £3000.

A Recruitment Bonus of £3,000 will be available for an exceptional candidate, paid in the 1st month's salary following appointment. This amount will be repayable to the Trust if you leave your post within 12 months of your appointment.

Maths department

We are seeking an additional maths teacher to join our successful department and academy. We have six teachers currently, comprising the Head and Second in department; a specialist numeracy teaching assistant and a one-to-one tutor. The department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession.

Teaching takes place in the department's seven classrooms. Every classroom has an interactive board and a visualiser and these are used extensively by the team. There is a learning resource centre (LRC) within the building which is run by a full-time enthusiastic librarian, this area supports homework clubs and other access to PC's to support our students' learning.

There is a strong whole-school numeracy strategy which aims to ensure that all students can gain the educational and personal benefits of numeracy. You will be well supported by our experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.

As in all OGAT secondary academies, the department prepares students for Edexcel GCSE Maths and AQA Level 2 Further Maths qualifications. The programme of study is ambitious for all students with comprehensive guidance around consistent methodologies which we believe support our students with their mathematical fluency, thinking and problem solving. This is supported by our Maths Hub and the National Institute of Teaching, both of which offer exceptional CPD opportunities to progress within the Academy and wider Trust. We aim to help all our teachers to become 'experts' in preparing students for GCSE examinations, using our thorough and systematic methods devised over many years. We have the benefit of support from the trust's team of expert Maths directors, who provide support, materials, advice, coaching and who model and team-teach in lessons alongside us to develop our expertise. As an indication of our success, each year around 80% of year 11 students achieve a pass in maths, with strong positive average progress for all students.
