Job Title:
Cheif Instructor

Job Role Summary Loch Morlich Watersports are looking to recruit a Cheif watersports Instructor for the Summer 2024 season. Loch Morlich Watersports (LMW) is a family-run business, located in the heart of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.

The centre enjoys one of the finest settings of any loch in the country.

It is surrounded by forests and fringed by beaches, with the stunning backdrop of the often snow-clad peaks of the northern Cairngorms.

Essential Qualifications

  • Senior Sailing Instructor (Either in Sailing or windsurfing).
Desirable qualifications include

  • BC Canoe Open water Leader
  • BC Whitewater Kayak Coach
  • BC Sheltered Water Coach


 MBL Level
  • Dingy Sailing Instructor
  • Windsurfing Instructor
  • Power Boat Instructor
Additional outdoor qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Job Title:
Cheif Instructor Responsible to the Centre Manager

  • To assist the Manager in the training and supervision of Instructors and in the planning and delivering of activities at Loch Morlich Water Sports
  • Oversee day visits, all hire customers and group lessons ensuring
    Safety, Quality and Consistency.
  • To be available for 'Duty cover' to include evening and weekends.
  • To be an active role model

Responsibilities:

- support the Manager in implementing staff training and monitoring performance
- signing off Instructors via ongoing supervision of activity sessions
- develop activities and resources
- take responsibility for specific activity areas and projects.
- to oversee both residential and day visit groups
- to ensure Instructors are delivering quality and consistent activities in line with the policies and procedures.
- to keep the Manager informed of daily events with groups, activity equipment and Instructors.
- to instruct on a wide variety of groups with a range of different outcomes.
- to be shadowed on sessions by new and existing staff as part of the sign off process and individual continued professional development.
- complete regular equipment checks and coordinate Instructors to complete checks and other maintenance tasks.
- be a point of contact for first aid incidents within your ability and assist Instructors/Manager with bigger incidents.
- assist in the completion of daily operational administration such as compiling group paperwork, creating daily plans and have an active role in checking programmes for errors and suitability
- carry out any other duties as requested by the Manager

  • Ensuring all customers have an enjoyable experience at LMW
  • Being an active role model for Loch Morlich Watersports. Working Hours and Centre Information Loch Morlich Watersports is open from April to October. A working day at the Watersports starts at 9am and ends around 5:30pm, inclusive of a 30minute lunch break. There is a cafe onsite. Equipment hire starts at 10am and the last hire is at 4pm, with the aim to have all crafts off the water by 5pm.

  • Watersports instruction: 4 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
