Minute taking skills and experience are essential for this role This role is responsible to the Administrative Manager of the SEN team and is required to lead and/or contribute to a range of projects and build relations with both internal and external partners in order achieve specified outcomes. Responsible for the casework arising from the administration of the required procedures relating to the assessments of children with Special Educational Needs and their placement in the appropriate school.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the operation of a case load in the statutory assessment procedure and the placement of children who have special educational needs.
  • All administrative procedures relating to the statutory assessment process for children. The DfE require the EHC assessment process to be completed in 20 weeks this is a national indicator that the SEN Team are required to work to.
  • Assist with the administrative processes and preparation involved with the attendance of an Officer at SEN Tribunals and Annual Reviews.
  • The placement of pupils who either have an Education Health and Care Plan in mainstream and Special Schools.
  • Updating of the SEN database with regard to assessments, placements, reviews and provision.
  • Setting up of meetings as appropriate and the minuting of meetings as and when required.
  • Support the SEN Administrative Manager in ensuring working practices and systems within the SEN Team are monitored and maintained.
  • Support with developing the SEN database and Sharepoint to enhance electronic working practices.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's (grades 94 or A*C grades) or equivalent including English and Mathematics or NVQ level 2 or above.

Experience:

  • A broad range of administrative experience.
  • Experience of office procedures and practices.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of audiences desirable.
  • An understanding of the process and requirements relating to Annual Reviews of a pupil with an Education Health and Care Plan desirable.

Skills:

  • Ability to work as a member of and contribute to a team.
  • Highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to respond to others sensitively and tactfully.
  • Ability to work effectively unsupervised.
  • An effective communicator in both oral and written form.
  • An ability to work under pressure without loss of quality.
  • Good organisational abilities.
  • Minute taking skills and experience are essential for this role.
  • An ability to preserve strict standards of confidentiality.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
