The role:


The Head of Data Platform Architecture will be responsible for defining, optimising and governing the technology landscape for the Enterprise Data Platform in Consumer Tech.

The role has a truly global scope and is accountable for providing a world class and competitively differentiating technology architecture for Haleon.

The scope of the Head of Data Platform Architecture role is inherently broad and covers a wide technology landscape.

You will demonstrate your significant technical breadth and depth to help equip the company with a data technology platform which supports the growth ambitions of the business and delivers a competitive advantage through data technology.

This is a technical role that requires deep knowledge and expertise to drive and deliver a data platform to support the Consumer Business strategy, and you will lead a team of data architects with specialist knowledge to produce optimised designs and clear content to follow.


You will naturally & seamlessly partner, communicate & align across the technology organisation, including infrastructure groups, innovation groups, product development groups, the security engineering organisation & the Enterprise Architecture Function.


In this role you will

  • Be a leader with vision in data management, data analytics, data science and demonstrate your deep technical competency and interpersonal skills to drive business value and results.
  • Anticipate and lead technology evolution and relate it to business solutions.
  • Be accountable globally for the creation & delivery of Data Architecture Patterns which are consistent with a business that has significant growth aspirations and a competitive intent to bring to bear value from technology.
  • Assess new data technologies and articulate the transition from current to future state, striking the balance between standardisation, customisation, innovation, costs and risk management, while staying abreast of disruptive technology trends that can impact or benefit the business
  • Responsible for ensuring new data technologies and innovations are integrated into the organisation, advising and recommending data architecture strategies, decisions, processes, tools, standards and methodologies.
  • Make bold technology decisions from a position of informed technical authority.
  • Lead a team of data architects with specialist knowledge to produce optimised designs and clear content to follow.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Expert level depth and breadth of Data Technology knowledge and the ability to lead data technology decisions from a position of technical authority
  • Experience with data modelling and distributed data architecture concepts, fluency with agile and DevOps methodology and automaton practices
  • Experience of core Azure data components, including Data Bricks, Azure DW/Synapse, Spark, ADL, Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Data Streaming patterns and hybrid realtime / lambda integration architectures.
  • Facilitate the design of efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis, with an understanding of business, technical & policy requirements (e.g. retention, residency, privacy, etc)
  • Extensive experience developing roadmaps, reference architectures and capability models as distributable content and points of reference
  • Superb problem solving and outstanding communication skills with the ability to describe complex & abstract technical concepts up to board level.
  • Able to drive organisational change, by identifying, encouraging and embedding Next Gen architecture solutions
  • Proven team leadership, people management, recruiting and development skills
  • Significant experience with data architecture, and also senior architecture leadership
