Job Title: Ranger at Cliveden

We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Ranger to become part of our team at Cliveden. As a Ranger, you are the core of the National Trust in safeguarding the landscapes. You champion nature conservation and the beauty of the great outdoors, playing a vital role in maintaining the cherished countryside and coast for both wildlife and people.

About the Company: The Cliveden Portfolio provides a dynamic environment with new and diverse challenges daily. You will work on Common land which is central to the local community and the broader Cliveden House estate, one of the most bustling properties in the National Trust.

  • You will assist in safeguarding and nurturing habitats, wildlife, infrastructure, and machinery across the Portfolio.
  • Working under the supervision of the Area Ranger for Maidenhead and Cookham Commons, you will be instrumental in executing practical habitat conservation and access management while ensuring the optimal appearance of our sites.
  • Collaborating with volunteers, we maintain various sites including broadleaf woodland, species-rich chalk grassland, and SSSI grazing marsh, making the work equally diverse.

What the Role Involves:

  • Ensuring that conservation efforts and outdoor experiences across the Portfolio meet top-notch standards.
  • Establishing relationships within the local community, serving as a proud ambassador for the Trust and informing people about the team's work.
  • Focusing on practical work outdoors to preserve and enhance the areas under our care, including access work, habitat conservation, and site presentation.
  • Utilizing chainsaws and tree felling equipment, as well as maintaining powered machinery and hand tools.
  • Overseeing compliance tasks like footpath and outdoor furniture inspections for a safe working environment.
  • Leading volunteer teams on various tasks while imparting knowledge and enthusiasm to foster others' appreciation for the area.
  • Weekend, bank holiday, and evening work will be required.

Who We're Seeking:

  • Experienced in conservation work to protect and enhance habitats and landscapes.
  • Capable of effectively communicating with individuals from all walks of life about the significance of the work being done.
  • Hard-working, eager to learn, and committed to safety measures.
  • Skilled in land management, access, conservation, and outdoor work.
  • Proficient in operating machinery and equipment with relevant certifications.
  • Holder of a full UK driving license.
