Join our team as an External Affairs Officer at Morgan Hunt

Morgan Hunt is collaborating with a Health Professions Membership Body to find a full-time External Affairs Officer who will play a key role in promoting advocacy and policy objectives.

As the External Affairs Officer, you will take charge of formulating and executing the external affairs strategy. This role involves monitoring the activities of important stakeholders, updating vital data, and providing briefs to senior staff members. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Communications and Policy teams to offer support during Party Conferences and the implementation of public campaigns.

The ideal candidate for the External Affairs Officer position will possess excellent stakeholder engagement abilities, be a proactive self-starter capable of maintaining high standards independently, and exhibit strong communication skills.

Location: Farringdon, London (Hybrid)
Salary: £35,000
Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the external affairs strategy.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to further policy objectives.
  • Assess government actions and suggest effective public affairs strategies.
  • Oversee a political monitoring service for timely policy updates.
  • Engage with stakeholders effectively, maintain data, and brief senior staff.
  • Enhance the organization's visibility in Parliament through targeted briefings and events.
  • Lead the organization's participation in Party Conferences and other policy-related events.
  • Establish and nurture a network of connections within Westminster and the health policy field.
  • Create public campaigns and contribute to integrated communication strategies.
  • Support policy-focused events and report releases.
  • Stay informed about relevant developments and pursue continuous professional growth.
  • Integrate digital communications into day-to-day operations.
  • Comply with organizational protocols and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Contribute actively to team meetings and shared organizational objectives.
  • Be adaptable and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed, including occasional travel and evening/weekend work.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in public affairs and policy advocacy.
  • Background in integrated communications planning.
  • Proficiency in managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Thorough understanding of the UK political landscape and healthcare policy.
  • Excellent communication and persuasive skills.
  • Skilled in IT and political monitoring tools.
  • Strong time management and organizational capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and adept at prioritizing multiple tasks.
