In terms of location, we have offices in central Bath, London, Fareham, Plymouth, or Weymouth, and we offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

About You

Are you fascinated by AI and ML? We're seeking organized, driven individuals with research experience in AI/ML and data science. As part of our team, you'll solve complex real-world problems and contribute to continuous technical development and applied research.

Essential Skills:

  • Mathematical Background: A degree or equivalent experience in a mathematical or closely related field. We value diverse educational backgrounds.
  • Advanced Education: An in machine learning or equivalent expertise.
  • Industrial Research: Willingness to work on challenging industrial research projects. Your impact will be tangible.
  • Project Experience: Demonstrated success in researching and delivering ML/AI solutions.
  • Autonomy: You can work under general guidance, but plan and monitor your own work.
  • Cutting-Edge Techniques: Familiarity with state-of-the-art techniques, for example:
  • Agent-based ML
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Deep Learning
  • Explainable AI
  • Transformers
  • Generative AI (Large Language Models and/or Small Language Models)
  • Data Science: experience applying existing data science techniques to new problems and datasets.
  • Software Implementation: Proficiency in implementing data science and ML algorithms using Python.
  • Code Quality Monitoring: Experienced in code reviews. Developing Tests.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, including an interest in bid writing. As much of our work is customer focused, your effective communication skills and ability to present professionally both verbally and in writing are important skills for this role. Mentorship and training can be provided to improve these skills.

Desirable Skills (Non-Essential)

  • Advanced Education: Phd in Machine Learning/AI or equivalent
  • Cloud Computing (Azure): Experience with Azure cloud services (Azure Machine Learning Studio or AWS equivalent), enabling efficient AI/ML deployment and scalability.
  • Python Machine Learning Frameworks: Experience with one or more python machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, PyTorch or JAX
  • Application Domains: experience in application domains such as Autonomy, NLP, Computer Vision, or Cyber Security. Your diverse interests enrich our work.
  • Line Management and/or Mentorship Experience guiding junior team members.
  • Docker: Familiarity of containerization using Docker.
  • Agile Projects: Productive experience working in agile projects.
  • MLOps: Exposure to MLOps practices including understanding of testingfor ML algorithms.
  • Code Quality Monitoring: Ability to monitor code quality and collaborate with team members to address any issues.
