The Role:
The Power Operator is part of the Power and Renewable Gas Operations Team within Energy Europe & Environmental.

The Power Operator will be part of a team of 6 Power Operators alongside a Renewable Operations team consisting of 4 Operators, and 1 Senior Operator.

This team is responsible for the commercial operations and balancing of the Power, and renewable certificate portfolios throughout Europe.

The Power portfolio encompass' flexible renewable generation, utilities, aggregators, power generators, large industrial and commercial energy users, and trading houses throughout numerous European countries (UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spainand Italy).

The Power Operator will report direct to the Power and Renewable Gas Team Lead.

Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Commercial business needs across the geographical portfolio, and the means by which Commercial Power Operations captures value in commercial markets.
  • Daily scheduling of European Power Grids and nominations
  • Executing trades bilaterally and on Europe's power Exchange
  • Management of day ahead and intraday crossborder capacities
  • Nominating/dispatching generating assets
  • Contact counterparties daily to check power positions and trades and ensure efficient matching
  • Provide input to IT tool enhancements/requirements
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of purchase and supply contracts and the obligations therein ensuring compliance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the various Power markets and regulatory regimes across Europe.
  • Lead the Commercial Wholesale Operations team through the digitalisation journey, removing unnecessary process's and looking to automate where possible.
  • Develop cross team capabilities in Gas, Power and renewables, and leverage synergies to the gain of all areas of the team.
Dimensions

Skills and Requirements:

  • Prior experience/knowledge in Power Operations
  • Selfmotivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment
  • Proficient English required and at least one further European language desirable (Italian or Spanish preferred)
  • Very strong attention to detail and delivery focused.
  • Prior experience working in a trading environment and managing risk
  • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets
  • Excellent understanding of European Power Operations and Power Assets.
  • Experienced user of IT systems and knowledgeable on IT landscapes including Power operations platforms.
