We are looking for a Part-time Veterinary Receptionist to join our fantastic team at Robson & Prescott Practice in Ashington.

As a Receptionist you will assist in the day to day running of the veterinary practice and have a passion for delivering exceptional Client / Customer Service.

In this role you will be welcoming arrivals, handling queries, booking appointments, dealing with cancellations as well as other general receptionist duties.


You will work 23-25hours per week Monday to Wednesday, You will also be required to work a Saturday afternoon on a rota basis at our Morpeth Whorral bank hospital.

The position is salaried at an hourly rate of £9.50/hr.

You must be resourceful, perceptive and proactive. Experience of working within a veterinary practice is preferred.

Aspects of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Welcoming clients and their pets in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Booking appointments.
  • Assisting with the processing of prescriptions for clients.
  • Keep waiting areas, consulting rooms, and offices, stocked and clean.
  • Entering information onto patient record systems accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the vets and nurses as and when required.
  • Registering new clients and explaining our services and offers.
  • Taking payments and processing daily banking.
  • Processing insurance forms.
  • Placing orders for products according to protocol.
  • Any other administrative tasks.

Skills required for this role:

  • To be able to adapt and respond positively to a busy environment.
  • Have good IT skills (including Excel, social media, and Outlook).
  • Be courteous & polite when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Have the ability to stay calm and helpful during busy times, and respond to clients with empathy.
  • Be a fantastic team player.
  • Have confident animalhandling skills.
  • Have a strong sense of energy and initiative.
