  • Carry out clerical and reception duties to a high standard ensuring patient confidentiality is upheld at all times.
  • Requirement to book appointments.
  • To act as a first point of contact for the department ensuring patient's details are correct.
  • Liaise with Medico-Legal teams and other Trusts to provide image/ report requests. Uploading onto CD's using computer programmes and disc burning facilities.
  • Ensure all abnormal diagnostic reports are highlighted daily with Consultants, GPS and other referring clinicians.
  • The post holder will be expected to work Trust wide covering NTGH and HGH.

  • The postholder will be part of a Trust wide experienced administrative team who work very closely with all specialities within the Trust.
  • The main aspect of this role involves booking patients in when attending for appointments, dealing with queries from patients/carers/families and professionals in order to process diagnostic Radiology referrals.
  • The role involves clerical and reception duties. There are requirements to book appointments directly with patients and clinicians ensuring patient's details are correct.
  • To assist in providing urgent reports to relevant clinicians.
  • Day to day management of image request systems.
  • Liaising with Medical Records to produce images on discs.
  • The team work closely with Radiographers, chaperones and Radiologists on a daily basis.


We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

Day to day management of IEP image request systems. Will liaise with the Medical records team to manage requests for images on CDs.


The post is based at WGH however there will be a requirement to work at other NTGH and HGH to cover sickness and annual leave.
