What is the DSP?

The Boots dispensing support pharmacy is a highly advanced automated pharmacy based in Preston.

On a daily basis we compile circa 106k prescriptions for the general public which are dispatched back to stores across the country ready for customers to collect.


The DSP is a highly bespoke and unique operation and the role of an operative is a hybrid of traditional warehousing and pharmacy roles.

What you will be doing?


Working within the DSP your days will be fast paced as you support the operation conducting several tasks in various areas throughout the day.

You will be part of a large team working closely together to ensure prescriptions are assembled accurately and with patient safety at the heart.

Typical duties will be picking and sorting medication so that it can be automated into individual customer orders.

Operating windows

The site is open from , Monday to Saturday. Currently, we have a range of full and part time shift available working the rotation; all on permanent contracts.

The Pharmacy is located at Walton Summit Preston and is co-located as part of the Alliance Boots group.

Skills/experience required:

  • Experience of working within a fastpaced environment
  • Experience within warehousing, production or pharmacy would be advantageous but isn't essential
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Punctuality and timekeeping are essential
  • Good organisational, planning and people skills
  • A good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Your safety within the workplace is paramount therefore you'll need to work in a safe manner with the safety of colleagues in mind at all times.
