This fixed term post will be hosted by the Cancer Division supported by Sussex and is jointly funded by all the Sussex and Surrey Cancer Alliances. . This post will support an exciting new Alliance funded workforce development of two programme which aims to upskill a cohort of nurses aspiring to become Cancer Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) across the Sussex Cancer Alliance.

These two rotational programme has been developed to upskill a Band 5 novice nurse and a more experienced Band 6 nurse gaining experience at particular sites across the network. The role for the project lead educator will work alongside the current and new Band 7 educator roles within the cancer division to provide and support participants with the required level of skills and knowledge to strengthen any future application for a CNS post/ SACT trained nurses and support the current workforce with educational opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Pro-actively support and develop the Novice and the CNS cancer nurse program, setting goals, deliverables and benefits realisation to define project and resource requirements, in complex multi organisational environments. Review, analyse and interpret ongoing individual project deliverables to assess the impact on achieving the wider programme objectives, and adjust plans accordingly. Make dynamic adjustments to project plans to ensure key milestones are met. Hold others to account, in line with agreed milestone plans and delivery targets, identifying risks and initial remedial actions. Report any longer term impact at strategic, organisational or operational levels to the Nursing Divisional lead for cancer service and the Cancer Alliance Lead to enable the assessment of impact on the other work streams. Review new or emerging national guidance and its impact on programme delivery. Support the current cancer workforce with educational opportunities and development. Support and develop in-house courses to support cancer education

Experience

Essential criteria

Evidence of ability to motivate and develop teams of nursing staff across the cancer division. Evidence and experience of working across professional teams and organisational boundaries Evidence of teaching Evidence of leadership skills with evidence of successfully managing high -performing teams up to date UK Registration Evidence of running projects and delivering outcomes

Desirable criteria

Masters or working towards PG certification in education or working towards
