An opportunity has arisen to join the Income Accounting team as a Sundry Billing Advisor in a full-time permanent capacity.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a financial background with good customer service experience, who has an enquiring and open mindset with a desire to make improvements.

The Role

The key responsibilities in this varied role include:

  • Managing the customer helpline
  • Managing the team mailbox
  • Preparing and issuing invoices to customers in line with tight monthly deadlines
  • Investigating customer disputes, working collaboratively with the relevant teams in Scottish Water at all levels to bring resolution
  • Billing reconciliations-
  • Support to the debt and cash management processes e.g. process cash book payments, provide information to debt recovery agents
  • Support the review, streamlining and standardising of processes and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with SW policies and controls.
  • General admin duties such as managing the physical daily mail, managing the electronic mailbox, logging cheques,
The Person

Essential skills/knowledge:

  • Comprehensive customer service experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problemsolver with analytical skills to identify and support delivery of improvement opportunities.
  • Be a strong team player, who can work well with others to achieve common goals and have a willingness to learn from others.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise your work, whilst maintaining flexibility to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Be proficient in numeracy skills and have excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and is proficient with standard IT packages and have a willingness to learn new systems
  • Willingness to ask questions and test the status quo in order to find better ways of doing things

The location for this role is in our Inverness office but other locations around Scotland may be considered.

  • The normal working hours for this role are 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). The salary scale for this post is £19,105 to £27,650 (salary placement dependent on skills and experience)
