Our indoor PV technology provides power to smart devices and sensors without the need for disposable batteries, providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution for powering billions of smart devices and sensors.

Our outdoor PV technology has state-of-the-art performance and provides electrical power for micro-satellites and UAVs.


Lightricity is seeking a Space Engineer to develop assembly and test methods and processes, and to automate processes for the integration and testing of ultra-efficient space solar cells.

The successful candidate should enjoy hands-on activities and have a relevant degree in space, electrical or mechanical engineering (MSc or PhD desirable).

Experience working with space-grade components or systems (e.g. Cubesats) is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities:
nDevelop and improve processes for the quality control and testing (mechanical, opto-electrical, thermal) of space solar cells and modulesnSolar cell integration into rigid and flexible modules or blanketsnDevelop automated testing and packaging processes (assembly and encapsulation)nContribute to the company's R&D projectsnWrite technical documentation and specifications

Required skills/experience:
nSoldering/welding knowledgenKnowledge about solar cells and characterisation proceduresnExperience working in laboratories and/or workshopsnAbility to work under own initiative and to manage workload appropriately to meet tight deadlinesnA team player, with good communication skillsnEligible to work in the UK

Desirable skills/experience:
nExperience working in clean roomsnPractical soldering/welding experiencenPCB design and fabricationnExperience with solar cells (incl. compound semiconductors) and/or modulesnExperience in lamination and/or encapsulation processesnFamiliarity with Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) principles
