This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description


This role is responsible for providing corporate finance services including planning, in-year management, project accounting and governance, investment appraisal and financial reporting supporting Defence Digital delivery.


Defence Digital Finance in the Business Teams are fully integrated with, and work collaboratively alongside, Programme Management and Commercial colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of the Defence Digital Portfolio.


Person specification

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of planning round information and submissions for the Programme Cost Review (PCR) and Annual Budgeting Cycle (ABC) at project level, including finance risk capture for review at Finance Manager level
  • Supporting the delivery of Inyear budget and forecast by conducting detailed work against specific project areas, including carrying out timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assessing and reconciling actual spend to inform financial reviews with Project Managers, Assistant Heads, etc.
  • Supporting account management to ensure they are robust, associated project accounts, asset delivery and inventory information is accurately maintained, reconciled and reported (including assisting with the delivery of the Team Leader Review of financial position and Management Validation and Audit File (MVAF)).
  • Support business decisions in relation to low value business cases/approvals within own limit of financial delegation.
  • Provide support for financial accounting returns and processes and assist with reviews as appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of a robust compliance and governance framework including discharge of effective financial requirements, Value for Money (VFM) decisions and affordability scrutiny, assurance and financial concurrence within delegated authority.
  • Effectively manage resources within area of responsibility to deliver VFM.
