He has associated complex care needs You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, while contributing to his therapy programme which are incorporated into his day-to-day activities.

Supported by a team of professionals, you will undertake a range of duties to support our client, working closely with other members of the team and family in providing the highest standards of care and support.


As you will be working in a busy family home, it is important that you are sensitive to the needs and boundaries of the family and are able to support our client's Mum when it comes to maintaining their structure and values.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience in working with young people or adults with additional needs is preferred but personality, common sense, and an ability to work flexibly are the qualities most needed.

Relevant job specific training will be provided, as necessary.

The post requires you to work under the direction of our client's parent as well as independently to a greater extent.

You must work and conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to the employer. Reliability, integrity, and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this post.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Maintaining all aspects of personal care as our client is completely dependent on support with absolutely all his activities of daily living.


Specific:

  • Maintaining nutrition, including giving food and the management of Gastrostomy.
  • Maintaining general health.
  • Supporting therapeutic programmes.
  • Supporting postural management programme.
  • Checking and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintaining our client's safety in all environments.
  • Attending care team review meetings.
  • Some cleaning, laundry and other domestic tasks as required by the client will be involved.

General:

  • Encourage, monitor, and maintain health, safety, and security in the workplace.
  • Promote effective communication and relationships.
  • Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
  • Establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship.
  • Be responsible for the client's personal welfare.
  • Travel to and from therapy sessions, hospitals or elsewhere for therapeutic care.
  • Liaise with other care agencies as required.
  • Complete daily records as advised including time sheets, daily record sheets, medication sheets, petty cash sheets and critical incidents.
  • Attend review meetings with the employer/parents and other persons as nominated by the employer.
  • Attend training sessions as arranged.
