Job summary

Since 2018 across Greater Manchester there has been large-scale transformation plans for the Crisis Care Pathway for children and young people (CYP). This role is a key element of the GM wide Crisis Care Pathway which is child centred, needs led, responsive, accessible, and flexible. The post will be instrumental in the success and future developments of the pathway and will ensure that all professional and patient contact with the service is of the highest professional standard at all times.

As part of the GM wide Crisis Care Pathway, Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) are developing an excellent service that will support CYP in crisis within the Central Manchester area. Within Crisis Care there are two teams the Rapid Response and CAMHs Home Intensive treatment team both offering support to CYP during times of Crisis.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved while we continue to develop this new, award winning service and help shape the crisis support for young people and ultimately improve their lifelong well-being.

We can offer a bespoke introduction and training plan in Children's and Young Peoples Mental Health Services.

Main duties of the job

As a Crisis Care Mental Health Practitioner you will work across the Rapid Response and Home Intensive treatment team. Both teams offer support to CYP during a time of crisis. Work collaboratively with our core CAMHS and other Mental Health Services across the system as well as Acute and/or Specialist Hospitals, the Police, Education and Social directly with children and young people with mental health needs and those who care for them. Conduct psycho-social and risk assessments, and identify strategies and creative interventions to help children and young people participate in normal family and community activities and to facilitate positive outcomes in relation to young people's mental health needs, ensuring that they are supported to remain in their own homes, while providing long lasting life skills and resilience to future crisis be responsible for an agreed caseload. Case loads will be small and due to the nature of the service, support will be provided from across the team to utilise the excellent variety of skills and expertise that each member of team can offer. All clinicians will have a responsibility to provide input and support into each other's case is an extended hours service which will involve shifts including weekends and evenings, current operational hours are 8am - 10pm 7 days per week, this may change as the service develops. There is no current requirement to work nights.
