Senior Bookkeeper to join our team at
Colchester.

You will be responsible for providing day to day bookkeeping and
VAT support to a variety of Haines Watts clients.

Duties include:

Bookkeeping

  • Excellent attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognise/correct errors.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate recordkeeping.
  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.
  • Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases ensuring supporting documentation is retained.
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly financial statements for clients to make informed business decisions.
  • Preparing reconciliations across all control accounts to assist in the preparation of yearend financial statements.
  • Producing and posting of opening balance adjustments following the completion and filing of yearend financial statements.

VAT

  • Working as a part of a team to ensure all client
    VAT returns are completed and filed on time.
  • Preparation of quarterly, monthly, and annual
    VAT reconciliations.
  • Calculation of Flat Rate, Partial Exemption, Global Accounting Scheme and Group
    VAT returns.

What you will need to be:

  • A positive person to work with and a strong communicator.
  • Copes well with change and pressure.
  • Takes ownership and manages own workload; is proactive if help or support is needed.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and takes responsibility for tasks.
  • Is selfaware of development areas.
  • Adopts a calm and assured approach, makes time for people and shares knowledge.
  • Has the ability to juggle several jobs, whilst demonstrating excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Takes pride in all aspects of work.
  • Presents themselves in a professional manner during client meetings and when taking client calls.

Skills:

  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Free Agent.
  • Multitasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with clients and other employees across various departments.
  • General ad hoc duties as required.
