Job DescriptionnWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer working within the Test Equipment team reporting to the Test Equipment Design Engineer Lead.
As a Design Engineer – Test Equipment you will be responsible for designing test equipment for John Crane's high end gas seals technology whilst liaising with our international service centres.
This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours. (hybrid)John Crane is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to crafting an inclusive environment for all employees.
Duties & Responsibilities
(not limited to)nTo design, using CAD, and maintain technical drawings and data for testing equipment used on both John Crane Gas and Wet seals.nTo ensure designs are to correct standards regarding safety and design practices.nTo manage the movement of test equipment between John Crane Service centres and storage within the Slough site.nRun reports to ensure test equipment is available for seals in order book / test plan.nSupport suppliers that use tooling designed or originally used by John Crane.nObtain quotes and off load work that cannot be manufactured in house to correct sub-contractor.nLoad parts that can be made into Slough machine shop.nSupports operations with issues with test rigs and test equipment.nParticipates in CI events with regard to storage and process relating to test equipment.
The IndividualnStudies in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.nPrevious experience in a design engineering role, with good experience of2D & 3D CAD.nGood knowledge of MS Office (incl. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); ideallynsome knowledge of creating / updating / maintaining databases.nExperience / knowledge of rotating equipment and high-pressure test equipment – an asset.nA resource-oriented person, with an innovative mind.nQuick thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.nAttention to detail.
