Twickenham, United Kingdom LB RICHMOND UPON THAMES & LB WANDSWORTH Full time
Develop today's services – and shape tomorrow's

Are you passionate about working with the voluntary and community sector and do you have extensive experience of commissioning public health services? As a Senior Commissioning Manager, you will lead commissioning of wellbeing and preventative services, including unpaid carer support services and sexual health provision.

You will get to build on your commissioning experience and bring strategic insight into service development and health improvement across both Richmond and Wandsworth.

With our shared service arrangement, you will get to work across two high performing boroughs and experience both inner and outer London issues first-hand.

Part of the largest local authority staffing group in London, you will help to shape services now and for years to come.

About the team

You will be joining a motivated, energetic and focused team that is committed to driving innovation, best practice and use of intelligence and insights so that Richmond and Wandsworth are at the forefront of commissioning practice nationwide.

About the role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Commissioning – Public Health and Wellbeing, you will have a key role to play in the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate.

Your expert knowledge of the full commissioning cycle and its application to public health and wellbeing services will enable you to ensure that local people get high quality, fit for purposes services.

You will help to develop our service models, procure new providers if necessary and make sure they perform at their best.

You will work closely with partners across the local voluntary and community sector and NHS, as well as other London local authorities, to bring about change that makes a critical difference to those at risk of social isolation and poor sexual health outcomes.

In collaboration with internal colleagues, you will champion a positive working relationship with the voluntary and community sector, working in close partnership with local organisations to prevent, reduce and delay the need for adult social care support, and ensure high quality support is in place for unpaid carers.

At the same time, you will be managing budgets of around £11 million, multiple contracts and a team of four people, whilst embracing new opportunities and making our services efficient.

That calls for proven experience in a similar role, where you have gained a track record in improving service provision.

Crucially, you have built up in-depth knowledge of Public Health and wellbeing services, and the role of local authorities in their delivery.

With this expertise, plus your excellent people skills, you will inspire staff, connect with partners and earn trust and credibility.
