Overview of the Role
As an EHS&Q (Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality) Compliance Manager, your main responsibility will be to develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the company's compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality regulations and standards. This position entails collaborating closely with different departments to ensure adherence to applicable laws, policies, and industry best practices. The EHS&Q Compliance Manager will have a key role in identifying and mitigating risks linked to non-compliance, fostering a safety and quality-oriented culture, and upholding a positive work environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay updated on relevant local, state, national, and international EHS&Q regulations.
    • Interpret and convey regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
    • Develop and implement strategies to address regulatory changes.
Policy Development:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create and update company policies related to EHS&Q compliance.
  • Ensure alignment of policies with current regulations and industry standards.
Training and Education:
  • Design and deliver EHS&Q training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Ensure awareness and understanding of compliance requirements among employees.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:Regularly perform risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues.Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and enhance overall compliance.
Auditing and Monitoring
  • Establish and execute a robust auditing program for compliance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors for thorough assessments.

Incident Investigation
  • Lead investigations into EHS&Q incidents, accidents, or non-compliance issues.
  • Develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.

Reporting
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Generate internal reports on compliance metrics and performance.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for improving EHS&Q processes.
  • Implement best practices to enhance overall compliance and safety culture.

Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
    A degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or related field, with specializations relevant to the company's services being preferred.
Master's Degree
  • A master’s degree in Health and Safety or a specialized engineering discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.

Professional Certifications
  • NEBOSH National Diploma
    A well-recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, essential for understanding UK-specific health and safety standards.
IOSH Membership
  • Being a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, particularly at a Chartered level, demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and dedication to safety practices.

Experience
  • Relevant Industry Experience
    Extensive experience in EHS and quality roles within the engineering and technology sector, showcasing a successful history of implementing EHS and quality management systems.
Leadership Experience
Demonstrated experience leading EHS and quality initiatives, managing teams, and driving continuous improvement.
Skills and Knowledge
  • EHS & Quality Management Systems
    Thorough knowledge of EHS and quality management principles, practices, and standards, such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Legislative Knowledge
    A comprehensive understanding of UK and EU environmental, health, and safety legislation, and quality standards relevant to the engineering and technology sector.
  • Risk Assessment and Management
    Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
    Skills in assessing and managing the environmental impact of engineering projects and operations.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
    Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and devise effective solutions for EHS and quality-related challenges.
  • Communication Skills
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate EHS and quality policies, conduct training, and interact with regulatory bodies.
  • Project Management Skills
    Proficiency in project management, including planning, executing, monitoring, and closing EHS and quality-related projects.
