Shires Teaching Alliance is a partnership between Studley High School (the lead school), University of Worcester and a group of other local outstanding or good schools, offering the opportunity to train to teach through a one year post graduate programme.

We are a long-established provider of teacher training in South Warwickshire and Worcestershire, with a strong track record of recruiting, developing, and employing high-quality trainee teachers across the region.

Our School Direct Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme offers graduates and career changers, the opportunity to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) via a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), which is university-accredited.

We currently offer teacher training in Secondary and High Schools, 11-16 aged pupils with experience of Post 16.

School Direct is a popular and competitive route of teacher training that aims to attract the highest quality of trainees.

To apply, you must have an undergraduate degree or a recognized equivalent qualification at 2:2 or above, GCSE grade 4 (or grade C) or above in English and Mathematics, and a passion for teaching and working with young learners.

Trainees spend the majority of their time in their placement schools, learning and working alongside experienced teachers and leaders and being fully immersed in school life.

In addition to this hands-on experience, trainees also follow a weekly professional development programme, which gives them the opportunity to see and experience other school environments, extend their knowledge and expertise of teaching strategies, and network with other School Direct trainees and teachers.

During the programme, all trainees experience teaching in at least two placement schools.

With Shires Teaching Alliance, trainees also have the opportunity to teach in a wide variety of schools in the area including comprehensive, grammar and single gender.

Shires Teaching Alliance is an established, accredited provider of the School Direct teacher training programme, offering high-quality school-based training. Our programmes provide opportunities to learn on the job, alongside experienced school leaders, and our success rates are excellent. Many of our trainees are offered their first teaching role within our alliance of schools.

Our dedicated team of professionals oversee and manage the design and delivery of our programme, ensuring the highest levels of in-school support and quality assurance.
