Lead Practitioner of English Needed in Luton

As the Lead Practitioner of English, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the department, nurturing students' academic and personal growth, fostering a love for English literature and language, and creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Lead Practitioner of English Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive English lessons tailored to the needs and interests of students, promoting literacy and critical thinking skills.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, practical activities, and creative resources to make learning English enjoyable and accessible for all students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore literary ideas, develop their skills, and achieve their full potential.
  • Assess student progress through a range of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth and development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social skills by modelling respect, cooperation, and responsibility, and implementing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop crosscurricular links, participate in departmental meetings, and contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant university degree and PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a UK school setting is preferred, but not essential.
