Coventry City Football Club is seeking a pool of Clinical Psychologists to work on an ad hoc basis with first-team and academy players, and performance staff.

Working on a consultancy basis, we are looking to provide 'gold standard' psychology provision across our performance departments in the first-team and academy. The clinical psychology provision will help enhance our support to those contending with clincial levels of psychological conditions.

Duties may also include the provision of psychology workshops, the education and development of first-team and academy staff, and working in alignment with other psychology disciplines to provide a holistic person-centred approach throughout the Club.

The candidate will need to have flexibility to priortise their work with the team, and provide responsive support.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
  • Provide responsive, multimodal clinical psychological support based on a detailed individual needs analysis
  • Work in conjunction with first-team and academy staff to complement broader individualised support provided (specifically with sport science, strength and conditioning, coaching, nutrition, rehabilitation and medicine)
  • Be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team delivering a 'gold standard' of psychology support (within the confines of confidentiality)
  • Deliver appropriate support within the limitations of your expertise, and refer to specialist support in a timely manner where required
  • Maintain up-to-date records of the work undertaken with all individuals

Interdisciplinary Contribution

  • Offer input, guidance and advice to other performance practitioners and Club staff (where appropriate)
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to provide clinical psychology input where necessary
  • Work in conjunction with other Club staff such as the Club Doctor, Head of Safeguarding, Head of Academy Player Care, Player Liaison Manager, Academy Performance Psychologist & Club Sport Psychologist
  • Provide relevant CPD for the Club as required

Post-holders may be required to carry out other duties as required by the First Team Manager and/or the Performance Director.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, CRITERIA
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical)
  • Current holder of British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Status
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996)
  • Holds appropriate indemnity insurance
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Experience of delivering multimodal psychological therapies (e.g., REBT, CBT, EMDR, ACT etc..)
  • The ability to communicate concisely, assertively, and effectively and at all levels
  • Full and valid driving licence
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of working in an elite sporting environment
  • Safeguarding & Protecting Children/FA Safeguarding Children
  • UKAD 'Introduction to Clean Sport'
