Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) currently have two major programmes of work underway - the implementation of an EPR and the build of a Women and Children's Hospital.

Both will bring a wide-ranging set of benefits that will directly impact on patient care and the way we deliver services.


We are looking for a Benefits Lead that will be responsible for benefits development and benefits realisation for the EPR Programme and the Woman and Children's Hospital Programme.

This is a newly created post and a fantastic opportunity for anyone that is keen to shape this role to become the benefits expert across the organisation and an ambassador for improvements to patient care enabled by these projects.


Working in a dedicated team you will play the lead role in helping to refine the benefits that will derive from these two programmes.

You will work with operational and clinical teams to ensure that the benefits set out in the business cases are delivered as well as identifying good practice to develop and realise further benefit.


This post is a managerial role responsible for benefits development and benefits realisation for the Electronic Patient Records (EPR) programme and the Women and Children's (W&C) Hospital Programme.


Working closely with the EPR Programme Director and the Women and Children's Programme Director you will play a very rewarding and highly valuable role in helping develop, operationalise, deliver and monitor the benefits for these projects.

The benefits will be wide-ranging and will include benefits in healthcare, cash savings, productivity benefits and benefits to the wider society.


The post holder will be able to work with operational and clinical teams to ensure that the benefits set out in the business cases are delivered as well as identifying good practice to develop and realise further benefits.

Key Result Areas


Lead the identification and validation of benefits and contribute to the identification and validation of benefits for the EPR and W&C programmes.


  • Develop a highlevel strategic plan for the realisation of material quality and financial benefits, in a way that supports delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives and quality and financial benefits identified in the full business cases.
  • Define a stakeholder and change management strategy to ensure key players are identified and engaged throughout the programme for a successful delivery of transformational change.
  • Track achievement of benefits against the plan, and the delivery of transformational change required, that lead to successful delivery of those benefits.
  • Hold overall accountability for monitoring the scope and progress of the benefits against the benefits realisation plan; reporting progress and exceptions to the Benefits Realisation Group and programme boards.
  • Use change management, Quality Improvement and Lean techniques where applicable, and promoting the investigation and consideration of effective ways of working / clinical pathways adopted by other Trust sites.
  • Consider how best practice from national guidance might be introduced as part of the programme, clearly articulated to the programme board the options, risks and benefits for informed decision making.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organisation, including divisional management teams and clinical leads, to ensure benefits are locally owned.
