OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Maritime Analyst assists other Technical Advisors in the Strategy and Energy Transition group to develop and deliver the organisations' strategy and selected work programmes, especially that of the Greenhouse Gas Committee (GHGC).

The offshore industry is currently undergoing a significant transition in response to the multifaceted challenges of achieving Net Zero, improved stewardship of the marine environment, and embedding responsible resource use. It is also a vital sector to support the growth of offshore renewables around the world in line with clean energy commitments whilst also maintaining existing offshore energy infrastructure.

The organisation has long held the position of developing safety standards across the offshore industry and is recognized as the industry standard setter in this regard. It has an increasing footprint with a range of companies seeking to reduce emissions in line with the IMO strategy.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation and the analyst will have the opportunity to shape the future strategy to support the industries approach to decarbonisation, value offering and activities.

The role will enable the organisation to shape best practices and standards for the offshore sector by harnessing the collective efforts of companies in the subsea niche, building relationships with new sectors across the decarbonisation space, and fostering collaborations and activities contributing to sustainability goals and targets as they continue to emerge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Programme

Work collaboratively with the Director of Strategy and Energy Transition to support decarbonisation and meet IMO / regulators' targets.

Work collaboratively with Technical Advisers to support the GHG Committee's agenda, objectives, and internal processes.

Support other Technical Committees - analyse and interpret large data sources (e.g. safety statistics)

Attend and contribute to task committee(s) and workgroups, including preparing meetings minutes, and follow-up on actions.

Assist in the collection of information and feedback from members to facilitate development of guidelines.

Assist in the drafting of guidance documents and information notes.

Monitor regulatory and technical developments which may affect interested parties.

Assisting with preparing key presentations and training for technical and/or regional meetings.

Assisting with briefings for senior management.

Provide support to interested parties on decarbonisation.

Travel as required (including internationally) to represent the organisation at appropriate meetings and events.

Work with the MSG team to maintain up-to-date committee member information.

Work with the communication team to develop engaging material, ensuring the effective outreach of the company's work within the industry.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience, Qualifications, Qualities

Essential

Ability to work with data and extract relevant insights from company data sources.

Awareness of the evolving regulatory landscape and international legislative requirements.

Confidence in engaging at a senior level to liaise with other companies, solicit ideas and initiatives, and drive forward a programme of improvement for the wider network.

A strong communicator to pragmatically coach on the need to raise profile and credentials in marine decarbonisation matters.

A champion for the reduction of carbon emissions and related challenges from the industry dedicated fleet compared with the wider shipping industry.

Experience in the development, design, and implementation of new programs and initiatives.

Skills

  • Fluent in English with advanced communication/presentation skills (written and verbal).
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to work with groups of varying expertise and seniority.
  • Self-starting and creative.
  • Clear vision, passion and drive to lead continual improvement, implementing strategic plans.
  • Strong personal skills in representing and promoting the work of the organisation.

Education and Knowledge

  • Graduate in a relevant marine sciences or relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation.
  • A demonstrable data analysis background/experience and data manipulation
