Job Title: Hostel Support Worker

Reporting To: Senior Housing Support Officer

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and professional Hostel Support Worker to ensure the safety and security of our building and residents. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining health and safety procedures at all times, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the welfare of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Answer all queries in a polite and professional manner.
  2. Respond promptly to telephone calls and door buzzers.
  3. Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety and Security procedures.
  4. Conduct regular checks of the building during shifts.
  5. Identify and log any defects and repairs for the attention of day staff.
  6. Ensure that the premises are never left unattended during duty.
  7. Deal with any building emergencies promptly and liaise with emergency services if necessary.
  8. Let residents in and out of the building during shifts, ensuring keys are retained and kept in key cupboard.
  9. Ensure that residents comply with all Hostel Rules.
  10. Ensure that all visitors leave promptly at the agreed time.
  11. Deal with any emergencies that may arise and make contact with the Hostel Manager/Housing Support Worker or the Authorities as appropriate.
  12. Ensure that the procedures for computer/internet/telephone facilities are adhered to at all times.
Additional Duties:
  • Attend and participate in regular staff and supervision meetings.
  • Participate in a staff rota and cover for colleagues due to sickness or other absence.
  • Comply with the housing association's Health & Safety Policy, Night Security Procedures, Equal Opportunities Policy, Staff Code of Conduct, IT Security Policy, and Financial Regulations.
