About Global Market Development


The Global Market Development (GMD) team at the Milken Institute informs and empowers policymakers across emerging markets seeking to strengthen and deepen their financial markets, thereby catalyzing private-sector-led growth and long-term economic opportunity.

This effort includes two flagship Global Financial Scholars Programs:

the
_Capital Markets Scholars Program_, b
ased in Washington, DC and in partnership with the International Finance Corporation and Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, which builds a global network of rising leaders in financial policy who are advancing access to capital and business opportunity across 60 developing and emerging markets; and the _Public Financial Asset Management Program_**, based in London and in partnership with World Bank Treasury and Bayes Business School (City University of London), which trains rising leaders in sovereign wealth funds, public pension funds, and central banks who can ensure that the dividends of economic growth and natural resources are well managed and fully benefit future generations.

GMD is also leading the development of the Milken Institute's broader Africa Strategy, including the Africa Leaders Business Council, which convenes private
- and public-sector leaders from across the globe to share their expertise on Africa and support and inform the Milken Institute's engagement and programming on the continent.

About the Position

Responsibilities
-
Liaising with Fall 2024 Global Financial Scholars and their prospective internship providers in the US and UK, including by: expanding outreach to additional firms potentially interested in hosting Scholars as interns in Spring 2025; scheduling internship interviews over July-November 2024; securing internship offer letters for the Scholars; and generally troubleshooting Scholar logistics, big and small.

Coordinating online and in-person meeting management (zoom links, sending reminders to attendees, etc.) for both US and UK cohorts of Scholars.

Scheduling and coordinating the Fall 2024 Speaker Series for both programs (in the US and UK), in collaboration with external speakers and companies as well as with our program partners at the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Treasury, Georgetown University and Bayes Business School.

Supporting planning and logistics for GMD and Africa events of the Milken Institute, to include: an MI-Invest Africa US event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (September 2024, NYC), the Nigeria Alumni policy roundtable (September/ October 2024, Lagos) and the 3rd Capital Markets Alumni Retreat (February 2025, location TBD).

Expanding outreach and follow-up with new members of the Africa Leaders Business Council, including through regular communications, invoicing and member paperwork (where appropriate), planning quarterly calls and in-person networking events (mostly in Washington, DC, New York City, Abu Dhabi and London), and preparing write-ups or newsletter materials as appropriate.

Providing support to the GMD Directors on a daily basis for any other administrative and logístical issues associated with the Scholars Programs and the Africa Leaders Business Council.

As the need arises, supporting broader Milken Institute needs such as panel preparation for the Middle East & Africa Summit in December 2024.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in finance, international business, and/or economics and with deep knowledge of financial markets and privatesector development with at least 35 years of experience.
  • Must have exceptional written, communication and relationshipbuilding skills, the ability to source and communicate partnership opportunities in a clear manner, stellar organizational and timemanagement skills, and demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative
