As the Senior Lead for Services, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing domestic abuse and homeless services strategy for The Haven Wolverhampton.

This strategic leadership position requires a deep understanding of safeguarding, women's voices in shaping service and change, and innovation in services to ensure women and children can access our services safely and improve their journey through services.

You will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of our Service Strategy, and ensuring the effective utilisation of data and research for informed decision-making.

This role will require a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic vision to steer new projects in the pipeline and


The position has line management responsibility for Safe Accommodation, Community and IDVA services, Children and Young Peoples Services, Helpline and Wellbeing.

All areas have Operational Managers who lead their frontline teams and DSLs, you will be required to have oversight of all Safeguarding issues and learning from DHRs.


You will work within a Senior Leadership Team including Fundraising and Communications, People and Culture, Data and Techn, and Finance and report directly to the Chief Executive.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on development of the services strategy in line with The Havens strategic plan and user engagement.
  • Lead and implement a framework and evaluation process which actively encourages and includes women and children in decision making and shaping services.
  • Lead on quality and evaluation of services in accordance with contract specification, and funder agreements, and national benchmarks.
  • Maintain a high level of safeguarding protocols for women and children and ensure adequate measures in place to manage risk and quality.
  • Regularly review team budgets and ensure spends are managed each quarter for specific projects.

Key relationships

  • The position involves working closely with external agencies and partners to ensure safeguards are in place, and promote multi agency working and information sharing, and developing services.
  • The post holder will be a member of the Strategic Team and will be required to participate in Strategic Team Meeting, Services Sub Committee, and Board Meetings.
  • To report to Chief Executive and updates to Service Sub Committee
  • Line Manage designated staff within Services Function.

Reports and Information

  • To prepare and present reports to the senior leadership team, including service changes and updates, gaps in services and risk management planning, evaluation and service user feedback.
  • Report to Chief Executive and regularly update Governance Safeguarding Lead and prepare reports for Service Sub Committee
  • To report on the impact and effectiveness of service user evaluation framework
  • To use journey mapping as a tool to develop services and resource requirements and improve the journey through services.
  • Ensure Operational Manager complete reports for funders and commissioners.
  • Develop, implement, and review systems and procedures for improving service performance; ensure safeguards across all areas are effective.

General duties and responsibilities

  • To 'Act Up' in the absence of the Chief Executive.
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as maybe reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.


To have personal responsibility for maintaining personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and The Haven, by undertaking appropriate training and development activities.

This includes encouraging and supporting staff and managers in their training and development.
