Job Description

This position entails the need for employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), which includes The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal records.

The Role

As the Safety & Health Business Partner, your role will be crucial in offering operational support concerning industrial safety and health matters.

Your main focus will revolve around supporting UKAEA Building, Facilities Management, and Campus Development by closely collaborating with division leaders and their teams to foster a proactive culture in assistance of construction, upgrades, and maintenance of the UKAEA Culham estate.

It is suitable for a safety & health professional who already holds or is striving for chartered status, ready to challenge, guide, and aid senior management in safety & health affairs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide safety and health expertise to staff and contractors within the business area to ensure legal compliance.
  • Support the business by overseeing and assessing safety & health performance and suggesting enhancement measures.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of business areas alongside the relevant Head of Division.
  • Handle S&H incident reports pertinent to Divisions, ensuring that appropriate actions are assigned, root cause analysis is conducted, and there is confirmation of closure.
  • Lead S&H investigations, including carrying out and finalizing Fact Finds and participating in official inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent within an engineering or science-related field
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent
  • Chartered Member of IOSH or in the process of becoming CMIOSH
  • Experience in managing safety and health in construction or facilities management
  • Experience in performing audits and investigations
