About us


The Department of Anthropology's Public Anthropology section has a number of innovative industry-led postgraduate programmes in diverse areas of documentary film making, immersive factual storytelling, creative enterprise, and audio storytelling.


We are looking for a full-time Section Manager to coordinate the activity of this section, providing operational management support and ensuring it is aligned with departmental and university guidelines, working closely with the Section Head, DepartmentalManager and the Head of Department.

This is a truly exciting opportunity for someone to support the growth of Public Anthropology and work with an eclectic group of academics, film makers, editors and technicians.


Public Anthropology will move to UCL East in 2023 and the post holder will have a key role in planning and coordinating this in collaboration with colleagues in and outside the department.


About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager to monitor and manage Public Anthropology budgets, including expenditure and income forecasting and budgeting, and to advise and signpost on diverse administrative issues, including finance, staffingand facilities.


The post holder will provide high level and operational support for the logistics of the move of Public Anthropology to UCL East, and act as main professional services liaison point for the project within the section as well as managing of office and teachingspaces and liaising with UCL Estates.

This post will initially be based at UCL's Bloomsbury campus, but will move to UCL East in September 2023.

About you
It is essential that the postholder is a self-starter with proven ability to use initiative to complete tasks.

They will have a proven track record in administration and/or management within the Higher Education sector or other large non-profit organisationand substantial knowledge of financial processes and regulations, including financial forecasting and budgeting.

Ability to demonstrate effective self-management and focus while managing competing workloads, excellent problem solving skills and the abilityto use initiative to identify solutions and to deal diplomatically with sensitive situations and maintain strict confidentiality are essential skills required for the role.
