Job Summary

  • An opportunity is available at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust for a role as a Breast Specialist Nurse.

The post holder will support the clinical leadership, coordination, and the delivery and development of the One Stop Breast Service, Breast Pain Service, Breast Follow up Clinics, and if desired, Breast Care Nurse service provision alongside the current lead specialist nurse.

  • Applicants who do not meet all of the essential criteria may be considered for shortlisting.
  • Appointment will be at a Band 6 to reflect the training status until completion of qualification and preceptorship.

Main Duties of the Job

  • The post holder will be provided with support to achieve clinical leadership, coordination, and delivery and development of One Stop Breast Service, Breast Pain Service, Breast Follow up Clinics, and if desired, Breast Care Nurse service provision alongside the current lead specialist nurse.
  • Support will be provided for the applicant to achieve the necessary clinical skills for initial patient consultation, clinical assessment, nurse prescribing, and radiology investigation requesting.
  • Provide leadership and specialist clinical expertise within a multidisciplinary framework to deliver effective, evidence-based patient-focused care following national standards for patient safety and monitoring.
  • The role involves managing practice developments, clinical safety, and progression of the service alongside the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Post holders will contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients.
  • Responsible for timely patient pathways and liaising with other professionals for day-to-day operational issues.
