The successful applicant will cover a dynamic acute caseload supporting medical, surgical and critical care wards for both dysphagia and communication.
As a team we also work closely with our SLT colleagues both across the bay at our other acute hospital site, and in the community to share knowledge/ our experiences and support our patients throughout their health journey.
There are opportunities to be involved in specialist MDT's, as well as education and training provision for other AHP's, nursing, and medical staff.
You will be based within an innovative and welcoming team, with a clear supervision structure and support available from clinical specialists within the department.
There are extensive training and CPD opportunities available both external and in-house, which you will be supported to complete during protected time in work.
All dysphagia competent Band 6 therapists will have opportunity to gain experience in videofluoroscopy.
You will be responsible for supervision of assistant staff, students, band 5 staff and have opportunity to participate in service development and training within the wider acute team.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
