We are looking for an Information Security Officer to join our IT Team based in Coventry or Liverpool.
Every colleague, stakeholder and partner relies on the MTC to keep their information secure, and to keep the MTC's capabilities available.
The diverse nature of the MTC customer base and capabilities, and the central role that innovation plays in our value proposition, mean that IT policies, standards and solutions must be designed and operated in a way which meets the high standards of security required by customers and daily operations while enabling research and customer projects to have the necessary flexibility to innovate.
The Information Security Officer reports to the CIO and works closely with colleagues responsible for IT, physical security, and personnel security.
- Information and Technology security policies, standards, and compliance.
- Information management policies, standards, capabilities and procedures. This will include understanding the current basic policies and practices, identifying a target level based on value and risk, developing a roadmap, and leading the organisation on a journey of improvement.
- Managing the Security Alerts and Monitoring capability.
- Managing the Security Incident Management process.
- Managing Supply Chain security, both conducting supplier assessments and responding to customer assessments.
- Managing the Security Operations and Security Incident and Event Management capabilities, which are currently outsourced.
- Ensuring that the MTC maintains its Cyber Essentials Plus certification, and other standards as appropriate.
- Working with IT colleagues responsible for Architecture, Infrastructure and Enterprise Applications, ensuring the MTC's operational IT systems and services are secure.
- Managing the work of the IT Security Engineer who is responsible for security solution configuration, security incidents, security investigations, and monitoring and reporting the security compliance performance of the Infrastructure, Applications and client project Engineering teams.
- Working with Engineering, Infrastructure and Architecture colleagues to support the delivery of research and customer projects.
- Working with colleagues responsible for Physical and Personnel security to ensure consistent, aligned policies and operations.
- Overseeing the MTC's secure environments, including the design of new environments and maintenance of existing ones.
- Reporting IT and Information security status to the Executive team and Board.
- Managing selfassessment including managing third party penetration tests, people / behavioural risks including Phishing tests, and automated scanning.
- Identifying security issues and security improvement opportunities.
- Arranging internal audits and collaborating with external assessors.
Many of the day-to-day activities will be conducted by the IT Security Engineer, or other members of the Information Systems team.
The Information Security Officer is responsible for ensuring there are clear policies, processes, measurement, targets, reporting, and where necessary, agreed improvement plans.

About The MTC
The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry - often referred to as 'the valley of death'.
It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.
In December 2011, there were 16 industrial members, 44 staff and just a few key pieces of equipment in the 'workshop'.
Over the following 10+ years the MTC's rapid growth has seen the expansion of our campus with the construction of three more facilities, including the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
