The Role:

We are offering a fully accredited & funded Foundation Degree (FdA) in Therapeutic Work with Children and Young people, run by The Mulberry Bush and validated by the University of the West of England as part of the position

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Interact positively, creatively and thoughtfully with the children.
  • Plan and provide childcentred cultural, physical, play and recreational activities adapted to match children's levels of emotional integration.
  • Think creatively about and contribute to effective care planning.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic relationships with the children.
  • Take responsibility for preparing the children emotionally and physically for transitions, changes and events which often present a significant challenge.
  • Develop your understanding of therapeutic childcare practice.
  • Monitor the oversight of the care and treatment of usually one or two children within the household and developing a preoccupation with these children.
  • Proactively communicate with other departments in the School about the child as well as report writing, attending meetings and liaising with the child's homebase and professional network.
  • Setting and maintain appropriate boundaries for children to provide emotional containment, safety, order and a sense of belonging amongst members of the household.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Training or qualification demonstrating a reasonable ability to write and think clearly.
  • Good standard of general education.
