Receptionist

Job Description & Description of Team / Department
The Heidelberg Materials International Business Service Centre (BSC) provides administrative and transactional services to in-scope HC companies.

The Ridge is a busy site, home to c.400 office and laboratory workers. The site supports daily visitors and answers phone calls on behalf of Hanson UK.

As a Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to visitors, contractors, and employees, and ensuring smooth operations within the company.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced and professional setting while enjoying the flexibility of a fixed term contract.

This role sits within our Office Services team who provide a range of support to teams on site, including management of reception, greeting and supporting visitors to site, setting up meeting and conferencing facilities when required, and supporting the facilities manager in ensuring that all employees on site have the equipment and welfare facilities that they need.


Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role

  • Greet and welcome visitors, clients, and employees.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area, ensuring a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Answer and transfer phone calls to appropriate departments or individuals promptly and accurately.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing meeting room reservations.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to the appropriate recipients.
  • Assist in the coordination of outgoing mail and courier services.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of all visitor and employee information.
  • Support other administrative tasks and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficient in using telephone systems and office equipment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Skills / Experience

  • English and Maths GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Microsoft Office (excel & word)
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the drive and flexibility to support others.
