Wymondham, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust Full time

Would you like to help to improve Children and Young People's Wellbeing in Norfolk and Waveney? You could join our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Schools.

Do you hold an NVQ3 qualification relevant to working with children, young people and their families? Have you a good understanding of mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues.

Would you like to be part of a team using CBT informed approaches to support in schools and colleges?

We are delighted to announce that we have vacancies in our MHST's and are looking for enthusiastic, creative and experienced people to join our teams

Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) NHS Trust provides a range of services for children and families across Norfolk and Waveney and has recently been awarded the contract for the MHST programme.

The Trust already provides eight MHSTs in Norfolk & Waveney with two more launching in 2024.

Therefore, you can be reassured that you will be joining a supportive and experienced organisation with a broad knowledge of the Norfolk and Waveney system and of delivering a high-quality service.

We have posts available in our established MHST teams in North Norfolk, Lowestoft, South Norfolk and Breckland:448-NCYP

448-NCYP

448-NCYP

You will join us in helping to achieve improved access to psychological support for those with mild to moderate, newly emerging mental health difficulties.

The post holder will not be responsible for a caseload but will support delivery of evidence based emotional wellbeing activities, including creating resources to support the offer of the

team. You will focus largely on the 'Whole School Approach' to mental health. This might include preparing and supporting delivery of psychoeducation groups, assemblies and training of education staff.

You will work collaboratively with our colleagues in education as we all move towards creating more 'mentally healthy' cultures in schools together.

The post holder will contribute to the overall assessment, including risk assessment, of children and young people in terms of their mental health needs by, for example, carrying out class observations.

Rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission, we are proud to provide high quality innovative services across most of the east of England that enable people to receive care closer to home and live healthier lives.

There's one reason why our services are outstanding - and that's our amazing staff - who, for the seventh year running, rated us incredibly highly in the national staff survey.

As an assistant Practitioner your role will be to support the MHST's work with schools, children, young people and families as they promote mentally healthy school cultures.

You will not be responsible for a caseload but will support delivery of evidence based emotional wellbeing activities to children, young people and their families, as well as education staff under supervision.

You will create resources to support the offer of the team and collect feedback on its efficacy.

Job Purpose:

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are part of the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service in Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust and are within the 'Getting Advice' and 'Getting Help' (quadrants of) the developing iThrive model currently being implemented across Norfolk and Waveney.

The iThrive model provides an integrated approach to the delivery of person-centered and needs-led services for children, young people and families.

The postholder will be supporting the MHST's provision of a high-quality service to children, young people and their families, experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

The three core elements that the MHST's provide are:

  • Evidence based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues.
  • Support designated senior mental health leads in educational settings (whole school approach work).
  • Provide timely advice to school and college staff.

The postholder will work alongside Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's), Senior Wellbeing Practitioners (SWP's), Senior Clinicians and their Clinical and Team Leads through direct delivery of evidence-based interventions that support the recovery of young people referred to the service.

This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The postholder will not be responsible for a caseload but will support delivery of evidence based emotional wellbeing activities to children, young people and their families, as well as education staff under supervision. This might also include creating resources to support the offer of the team.
