Healthcare Science Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Science Support Worker (HSSW) to join the Blood Sciences Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital.

The role includes working as part of a friendly and supportive team within the Blood Sciences Specimen Reception.

The main aspect of the role is to prepare samples for further analysis, the role also includes some administration duties and requires high levels of concentration.

This is a full time position for a fixed term of 6 months.

Please Note:

The role will involve working in a high pressured environment taking receipt of large volumes of laboratory specimens.

Checking and examining electronic and paper requests and transfer requests onto the Laboratory Information System in preparation for sample analysis.


You will be rostered into the laboratory department as part of a team of Band 2 staff, carrying out technical, clerical and administrative duties.


It is essential that you have the ability to work flexibly between the hours of 07:00 and 21:00, inclusive of Saturday and Sunday and Bank Holiday, on rotation.
