A day in the life

As a Safety Technician Apprentice at Amazon, you'll gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills. You will work towards the Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) technician standard and also gain TechIOSH accreditation.


In this role, you will be based in one of our UK operations warehouses, where we store and process millions of items of inventory which are then shipped to customers all over the world.

An operations warehouse is a very large, operationally busy environment, in which you may be required to work shifts, including nights and weekends.


You will build your skills over a 18 month period, starting in June 2023, which will help you develop personally and professionally.

Your apprenticeship will be made up of;

  • Classroom/virtual based training to cover the academic component of the apprenticeship standard, delivered by our specialized apprenticeship training provider using a blended learning approach.
  • Onthejob training within your Amazon fulfilment Centre
  • Self led online learning & portfolio building
Reflective learning logs to demonstrate your understanding of a task or module.

  • Mentoring from Amazon safety team members.


You will attend a number of 1.1 sessions with a dedicated tutor from the apprenticeship training provider across the duration of the apprenticeship, as well as a collection of online virtual workshops, with guest speakers for open Q&A sessions.

Throughout the apprenticeship, modules covered include but are not limited to;

  • SHE legislation, Methods & Theories
  • Code of Conduct
  • Risk Assessment
  • Accident Investigation


You will work alongside the core safety team supporting with day to day tasks, learning how Amazon Safety works and delivers for its customers.


As you develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours you will become an integral part of the team, delivering the highest quality of service to our internal and external customers; ensuring everyone consistently operates safely.

The on the job experience and learning will help you build a portfolio of evidence towards your apprenticeship standard.

As part of any apprenticeship, you are given dedicated time to focus on your studies in order to help you stay on track and work towards successfully completing your qualifications.

Together with extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data and problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
