Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has opened up for the position of Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Austen House. This role is a replacement position.

Specialised services, part of the Mental Health & Learning Disability division, encompass a variety of specialized inpatient and community services for adolescents and adults.

Forensic services are a component of specialized services and include both inpatient and outpatient service provision.

Inpatient forensic services include:

  • Ravenswood House - Adult medium secure hospital, 63 beds, male only
  • Southfield - Adult low secure hospital, 28 beds, male and female
  • Ashford - Adult low secure hospital for individuals with learning disabilities, male only
  • Bluebird House - Adolescent medium secure hospital, 20 beds, male and female
  • Austen House - Adolescent low secure hospital

Community forensic services comprise:

  • Outpatient Personality Disorders & Pathfinder service
  • Specialist Community Forensic Team
  • Community Forensic Learning Disability Team
  • Stalking clinic

Main Duties of the Job

The Trust is looking to hire a specialty doctor to join the current medical team at Austen House. The new specialty doctor will work at Austen House, providing low secure service.

Austen House has a well-established multidisciplinary team, including consultant and non-consultant medical staff, family therapy, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, and nursing and health-care support work provision. The post holder will collaborate with the Physician Associate and Core Training Doctor to enhance the medical support for young individuals in the service.

The individual in this role will be accountable for delivering clinical care with the medical team for patients at Austen House, with opportunities to cultivate leadership skills.

Austen House is supported by a Matron and Ward Manager, with leave coverage managed within the team.

Essential

  • Recognised basic Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice

Experience

Essential

  • 3 years full-time hospital service in Psychiatry/Paediatrics or General Medicine (CT3 or higher grade) since registration
  • Experience in assessing and treating patients in acute & community psychiatric settings
