We have an exciting opportunity for a 12-month fixed term role as Senior Physiotherapist with the Women's and Men's Health Physiotherapy team. The Women's and Men's Health Physiotherapy team delivers a comprehensive range of services in gynaecology, urogynaecology, obstetrics, urology, colorectal surgery, and sexual health. We are a team of 12 including clinical and administrative staff, and are based over three sites - the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Horton General Hospitals. We are seeking an experienced physiotherapist who is keen to develop their expertise in pelvic health physiotherapy, and who is dedicated to delivering high quality, responsive and person-centred care . This position is for hours per week, working across 5 days (Monday to Friday).

Main duties of the job

To deliver clinical knowledge and skills in the care of those presenting with a range of pelvic health conditions.

To maintain clinical records in line with Trust and professional standards. To contribute to induction processes, clinical supervision and teaching within the physiotherapy team and broader MDT. To act as a clinical educator for pre-registration physiotherapy students.

To establish and maintain effective working relationships within relevant multidisciplinary teams.

To contribute to service development, and to participate in the design and implementation of a service strategy that aspires to be highly responsive, person-centred and clinically excellent.

The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication and people skills, to be competent at delivering physiotherapy intervention without direct supervision but with delegated autonomy within the scope of the role, and to become an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Communication and relationship skills

To establish and maintain effective working relationships with primary and secondary care services forming effective partnerships to facilitate patient care without delays or fragmentation.

To effectively communicate with patients and their carers/relatives using a range of verbal and non-verbal methods suited to the context of each situation. Be able to deploy these skills in the event of barriers to communication, as well as in contentious and complex matters whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism throughout.

Service management and development

To assist in the development, data collection and evaluation of operational and quality measures to understand performance of therapy within the Womens and Mens Physiotherapy team.

To participate in the development of patient pathways through gynaecological, urological, colo-rectal and obstetric care.

To ensure effective mechanisms are in place to identify and ensure the highest priority clinical demand placed upon the service can be met.

To support the effective management of financial and physical resources in a way that is efficient and maximises utilisation of the Therapy department budget.

To have an awareness of policies and procedures to manage staff performance, sickness absence, and disciplinary matters.

Clinical skills

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care.

To undertake clinical assessments of Womens and Mens Health conditions.

To be able to form problem lists and therapy/clinical management plans in a timely fashion where the clinical demand is one of high volume and the working environment is congested and under pressure.

To conform to professional standards, Trust policies and legal requirements for clinical and service record keeping.

To lead by example by performing clinical duties that are delivered to the highest standard, derived from evidence-based practice, and centred on maximising the patients care quality, outcomes and experience.

To determine the priority of clinical demand on a daily basis and to participate in coordinating the delivery of therapy accordingly to optimise patient outcome and experience.

Governance and performance

To actively engage and participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit and quality improvement projects.

To evaluate information and data related to clinical governance and performance standards to demonstrate the quality and efficiency of the service.

To participate in an annual clinical audit programme by which to measure compliance of therapy services against quality standards.

To participate in the business continuity and emergency planning policies that require a therapy service response.

To actively contribute to implementation of policies commissioned by the Therapies department.

To ensure all statutory and mandatory training requirements are up to date.

To deliver training and education that supports therapy and MDT members in delivering high quality and safe services for Womens and Mens Health Physiotherapy patients.
